Several hundred years ago, a catastrophic catastrophe almost destroyed their galaxy: an insurmountable ring of torn hyperspace fabric appeared in the center of the galaxy, which normal hyperspace engines cannot overcome. Since this event, no one has managed to get close to the central regions of the galaxy. All you know is that this event also spawned multiple insurmountable hyperspace rifts throughout the galaxy, and that a strange race of aliens, the Xsotan, appeared in the center. It seems that these aliens have found a way to overcome the torn hyperspace fabric, but so far no one has managed to establish contact with them. In Avorion you choose your personal play style. Transport cargo, find profitable trade routes and establish factories. Or maybe you’re tired of being the good guy? Build your own battleship, equip it with powerful weaponry and destroy your enemies. Be the aggressor who starts wars with entire factions, raids freighters, smuggles illegal goods and scavenges old remains. Find your way to the center of a galaxy that becomes more hostile, but also more rewarding the closer you get to its core.
