You wake up in the year 4000 and discover that the world has become an alien wasteland. Your task is to travel north to reach what may be the last human being on Earth. Explore, fight monsters, search for items, and run out of food as you do whatever it takes to survive in a vast procedurally generated world filled with otherworldly monsters. Play as a trash-collecting hobo, a candy-crazy kid, a gadget-wielding secret agent, a mystical druid, a knife-wielding punk, a mutant lab experiment, and more. Each class starts with its own starting equipment and special advantages. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses that suit a unique play style. Magic wands, flamethrowers, katanas and jet packs have been abandoned on the ground. Loot is randomly generated each game, meaning you have to adapt to what the wasteland has to offer. Deadland 4000 has no experience points. Instead, there are tomes of experiences scattered throughout the country. Reading them will allow you to learn new skills that will affect your entire career. Turn into a werewolf at night, photosynthesize your own food, go further at night or grow an extra head. Navigate through overgrown cornfields, dark desert roads, and desecrated suburbs. Be careful, wildlife has evolved. Many ferocious predators roam the wastelands and you are at the bottom of the food chain. Enemies can be avoided by staying out of their circle of vision. Be careful, firing weapons can generate noise and certain enemies will set off alarms alerting everyone near your location. The world generates in a straight line. Each biome is connected with no loading zones or level barriers. Take shelter from weather phenomena such as acid rain and solar flares by waiting out the storm in indoor structures. Rest or risk exploring at night with reduced visibility.
