Dead Monarchy is ultimately designed to be a tough hands-free game, however it is highly recommended to play at the default difficulty settings before attempting anything more difficult. Diving blindly into Emperor difficulty will most likely prove frustrating and result in a poor initial impression of the game and its overall mechanics. Once you’ve learned the mechanics and want more of a challenge, you’ll find Emperor difficulty more fun. Dead Monarchy is an open world turn-based tactical RPG set in a low fantasy world. Personally lead and manage your mercenary company as a captain and embark on your personal quest to defeat the champions of the arena. Explore the open world region known as the Midlands. As you travel around the world map, you’ll encounter random events as you travel to paradises where you can accept contracts, hire men, and resupply. Discover caves, ruins, cemeteries, abandoned fortresses and then engage in turn-based tactical combat on the tactical map.
Characteristics of the dead monarchy
- Personally lead and manage a medieval mercenary company in an open-world sandbox environment. The game will end if your player’s captain is killed in combat. Supports both manual saving and ironman mode. Death is permanent for your fellow mercenaries.
- Train and fight to the death in 5 arenas that progressively become more difficult as you attempt to defeat the arena champions and rise through the ranks of champions.
- Detailed and complex turn-based tactical combat in which you can lead up to 18 mercenaries during combat. World locations match tactical maps, fights in fields, camps, caves, ruins, cemeteries and abandoned fortresses.
- One of the few 3D “melee-focused” turn-based tactical combat RPGs to feature a lift system that affects the chance of hitting, as well as counterattacks, attacks of opportunity, ranged combat, and a flanking system where unit positioning really matters.
