Dead Army is a real-time strategy (RTS) game in which the player takes control of an army of zombies. The player will be able to command each and every one of the zombies to create the best strategy to destroy military bases, villages and small towns. Since controlling zombies is a feature, the player will also be able to increase his undead army through human infection. Based on the Tower Defense and Real-Time Strategy genres, the player will take control of a predetermined number of zombies and lead them towards enemy bases in each level. These bases are populated by armed soldiers or law enforcement officers who may be inside or outside a gas station. The player’s objective varies within each level. Some goals will be easier than others. That being said, in some levels the player will have to kill all enemies to succeed; while in other levels, the player may be tasked with collecting some resource or protecting a hero at all costs. Objectives will be displayed as soon as the player reaches a new level.

- Little by little new types of soldiers and enemies appear throughout the game.
- Tactical objectives where the player will have to go beyond devastating his opponent
- New features in each level revealing human and zombie units, each with their new abilities.
- Individual control and selection of each unit.
- Control and selection of groups through keyboard mapping.
- Squad control and selection by unit type (zombie-ballista, zombie-warrior, etc.)
- HP bar display for friendly and enemy units
- New units that die more and are more lethal in each level.
