After the death of his mother, Tomoya Okazaki, a delinquent student under surveillance at Hikarizaka High School, struggles to find meaning in his life. One morning, on his way to class, he meets a disconcerting girl named Nagisa. From their brief encounter, Nagisa decides that they should be friends and enlists Tomoya’s help in reviving the school’s drama club. Along the way, the two make friends with many other students and try to find comfort and belonging in their endeavors.
