Citizen of Rome – Dynasty Ascending is a family life/Dynasty simulator set in the Roman Republic. You will be able to see what life was like in the Old Republic, participate in its various customs, festivals and Ludi/sports competitions, while raising a family and ascending the social and economic hierarchy of the Republic. You can educate your children, marry them, sponsor their elections and much more. You will usually play as the eldest of your children once your character dies. The game is open-ended with no set ending, like in real life, but a big goal for any ambitious Roman family was to get a consul for the republic. This could also be your goal in the game: to climb the Cursus Honorum and become a “New Man” – “Novus Homo”. A central philosophy of the game is that, just like in real life, you don’t win or lose, you just experience life and have fun no matter where it takes you. The game should be fun in its own way at all levels, regardless of whether you are a proletarian or a senator, but things are played differently and with different objectives and challenges.
