Each technology, from nuclear thermal rockets to railguns to magnetoplasmadynamic thrusters, was implemented using real equations from engineering and physics textbooks and technical documents. All aspects of these systems (efficiency, size, mass, energy use, and heat dissipation) are derived from valid equations. Take on the role of an admiral and fight your way through a detailed story that chronicles the solar system’s descent into all-out war, spanning every planet in the solar system and everything in between. Or just play in the sandbox, designing ships and pitting them against other ships. With an N-Body simulator (the type NASA uses to plot spacecraft trajectories), all orbital phenomena of hyperbolic orbits, Lagrangian points, and orbital perturbations are simulated correctly. Spacecraft can maintain stationary orbits or enter perturbed orbits in free fall. The solar system is modeled entirely to scale. The sizes of all the planets, moons and asteroids are certainly enormous, and the distance between them is equally enormous. The extremely high orbital speed of their ships in high-gravity orbits is correspondingly correct. All of the above aspects combine to produce a space war simulator unparalleled in scientific realism. No other game combines extremely precise orbital mechanics, 1:1 scale of the solar system and technology implemented 100% through scientific equations.
