Burden of Command is an emotionally authentic World War II tactical leadership role-playing game. You are the captain of a company of the legendary Cottonbalers and lead your men on and off historic battlefields, from Morocco to Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest. Fighting both psychology and bullets, you must build respect, trust, and experience on the battlefield to bring your brothers home safely.
This game contains live action graphic violence from World War II and adult themes. Player discretion is recommended.
CHARACTERISTICS:
- Master the psychology of the battlefield: demoralize the enemy, inspire your men. Build trust and respect to overcome your natural fear of death. All this based on a meticulous study of the psychology of real combat.
- Realistic World War II Tactical Leadership: Learn how to suppress the enemy, outflank them, and finish them off. Good tactics earn you trust, respect and the enemy’s surrender. Bad tactics get your men killed.
- Life or death decisions: kill a soldier, lose him forever (permadeath). Your choices, their consequences.
- A leadership role-playing game: guide your men through personal crises and combat stress. The way you treat them affects the way they think. Mindset changes the way they speak and think, and how they perform on the battlefield. Lead well and forge a brotherhood willing to follow you to hell and back.
- The Burden of Command: Lead your unit through a narrative campaign of 18 turn-based tactical battles. When will you risk their lives for the mission or retreat to preserve them?
- Face the same decisions as them: historic battlefields and forces painstakingly recreated from period accounts, satellite imagery, period maps, and aerial reconnaissance. Military historian Professor John McManus, official chronicler of the Cottonbalers regiment we follow, tests and advises us.
