BAFL – Brakes are for losers is a top-down single-screen racing game that pays homage to classic arcade racers like Super Sprint, Indy Heat and Super Off Road. Players can challenge their friends in up to eight-player local multiplayer, selecting from a variety of original cars and using driving skills along with dirty tricks to dominate the competition. The gameplay emphasizes aggressive tactics like ramming opponents and collecting power-ups to sabotage rivals, all while racing without brakes for an intense, high-speed experience. BAFL features vibrant and unique tracks inspired by 80s and 90s pop culture, taking racers through various settings including a peaceful Caribbean island, a hellish underworld, fabulous Las Vegas and even the Moon. Whether competing in chaotic multiplayer championships or testing solo skills against challenging AI, players will find a nostalgic yet fresh arcade racing adventure. Beyond the multiplayer mayhem, BAFL offers a solid solo experience with several modes, such as Time Attack and Perfect Race, both maintaining the core challenge of brake-free driving. The game’s design is rooted in the passion of studio Oudidon, founded by industry veteran Alain Duverger, who sought to recapture the pure fun of classic games. Art direction led by Aline Krebs brings a distinctive visual style, while Aymeric Schwartz (known for Rayman Adventures and Absolver) provides an appropriately energetic soundtrack that complements the fast-paced gameplay. BAFL invites players to immerse themselves in a state-of-the-art homage to old-school racing, where the only rule is: no brakes.
