Apollyon is a choice-focused dark fantasy narrative role-playing game, where you summon demons and spiritual entities, confront them for power, and delve into a hidden universe. It’s a choose-your-own multiplayer adventure RPG mix with roguelike strategy board gameplay and hidden deck-building elements.
In this 40+ hour game, you will:
- Use obsidian tokens on the apollic table to control the powers of the world. Moving them around the table influences which spirits can approach your table, what abilities you can use, and also helps or hurts each challenge ahead of you!
- Face three spiritual entities in each round. They could be creatures from other worlds, other practitioners of the occult, visions from beyond, or many, many more! They must be addressed through violence, invocation, treaties, deception, or the like.
- Make tough decisions that will change the narrative, both small arcs and big stories for both the characters and the table. Your choices will matter, for better or worse!
- Summon your own spirits. You can bring some of these spirits between rituals as permanent unlocks, known as Summons. You can also incorporate a small amulet into each ritual, such as the Silver Watch, to keep you sane while you project yourself into the spirit world.
- Play Apollyon with up to two friends, who will share the table lineup and take on all the spirits together! This creates a unique strategy that is only present in multiplayer. For example, your efforts to escape a hostile fire spirit could be led by the player with the most agility or by the player who has a guard in their physical stats, in case they miss and take damage.
- Unlock and play as all ten playable characters and advance their stories alone or in multiplayer! Gaining power through these abilities and skills will help you complete later quests, known as Intents.
