Welcome to a compact, compact Metroidvania, where the square aspect ratio and single-screen level layout allow each of the 200+ rooms to fit into the world’s largest puzzle box; where secrets, feats and sequence breaking are the very basis of the game; and where the overall story doesn’t care too much about the path you take throughout the game.
Play with bosses out of order, why not? Generate your own vines and overcome difficult puzzles. Find a fifth secret temple in the east. Avoid picking up any weapons and use only special skills. Is it possible? Who knows!
Alruna is a dryad in a dying world: a spirit of life in the land of the dead. The land remains dry. There is only The Sprawl. Poor, bedraggled skeleton men dot the Necroindustrialist Wasteland, crawling endlessly to and fro in a laborious mockery of life. But are they the real enemy? Or do skeletons suffer as much as dryads under the rule of necroindustrialists?
And salvation? Is it possible? The dead long for heaven. But the dead can only dig…
