Pilots is a first-person combat and shipbuilding game that allows you to design and pilot aircraft, land ships, and boats from scratch. Starting with an empty hangar, you build your ship piece by piece, choosing from over 300 pieces to create anything from agile cargo transports to massive combat monsters. Whether you prefer to play solo or build cooperatively with friends, you’ll collect resources like wood, aetherium, and magnesite by mining or raiding enemy cargo holds to upgrade your ship. The game offers various propulsion options, including propellers, wheels, tank tracks, walker legs, and even tamed mechalodons, allowing for unique and versatile ship designs tailored to your play style. As you explore the archipelago’s many islands, you’ll take part in deliveries, hunt quarries, collect resources, and fight AI installations, all while preparing for encounters with powerful world bosses like the Mechalodon and the Ghost Ship. Combat in Airmen is intense and tactical, with every component of the ship vulnerable to destruction, meaning a failed engine can render your weapons powerless. Crew your vessel alone or with friends, take the helm, man turrets or join boarding actions armed with axes, knives, revolvers, rifles and boarding charges. Ships can be equipped with batteries of aimable cannons, pigeon-guided missiles, battering rams, harpoons, and player-operated turrets for dynamic engagements. Completing bounties grants you reputation with multiple factions, unlocking new opportunities and cosmetics for over 60 players through in-game challenges. You can also share and download ships through the Steam Workshop, expanding your arsenal of creative designs. Airmen offers a rich mix of building, exploration and combat that rewards strategy, teamwork and ingenuity as you strive to dominate the skies and seas of the Archipelago.
