Ichiban Kasuga, a low-level grunt from a low-level yakuza family in Tokyo, faces an 18-year sentence after being overthrown for a crime he didn't commit. Without losing faith, he loyally serves his time and returns to society to discover that no one was waiting for him outside and his clan was destroyed by the man he respected most.
Ichiban sets out to find the truth behind his family's betrayal and takes his life back, rallying a ragtag group of social outcasts to his side: Adachi, a rogue police officer, Nanba, a homeless ex-nurse, and Saeko, a hostess on a mission.
